ST. GEORGE, UTAH — The Rural Health Association of Utah (RHAU) today announced several updates to the membership and leadership structure of its Board of Directors, reflecting both transitions in service and a continued commitment to strong, representative governance across rural Utah.
RHAU extends its sincere appreciation to several departing board members whose service has helped advance the organization’s mission to improve healthcare access in rural communities. Dr. Colten Bracken, MD, is stepping down following the recent merger of his clinic with Revere Health, which requires increased focus on his clinical and organizational responsibilities. Dr. Laura Rosch will be leaving the board as she relocates to Chicago, Illinois, and Revina Talker, PA-C, is stepping away to dedicate more time to her role at Monument Valley Health Center. Finally, Dr. Ivette Lopez, Ph.D., MPH, has completed her board term and will continue her involvement with RHAU through the Advisory Council, where she will remain an important voice in shaping the organization’s work.
In recent months, the RHAU Board has undertaken a thoughtful review of its composition, evaluating both geographic representation and the breadth of professional disciplines across its leadership structure, including the Board of Directors, Advisory Council, and Advocacy Committee. This process was designed to ensure that RHAU’s leadership reflects the diverse needs and perspectives of rural communities throughout the state.
Following this review and a competitive selection process, RHAU is pleased to welcome four new members to its Board of Directors:
Mark Holyoak, FACHE, MBA, CPPS, BSN, RN, Chief Executive Officer, Castleview Hospital
Shane Gurley, PharmD, Director of Pharmacy, Blue Mountain Hospital
Brandon Hall, MD, FAAFP, Vice Chair of Primary Care, Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine
Michael Taylor, Chief Information Officer, Central Valley Medical Center
Each of these individuals brings a unique set of experiences and expertise that will strengthen RHAU’s ability to support rural healthcare systems, providers, and patients across Utah.
“It’s always difficult to see valued board members step away, as each has made meaningful contributions to our organization,” said Kasey Shakespear, Executive Director of RHAU. “At the same time, these transitions create opportunities to bring in new perspectives and continue building a board that reflects the evolving needs of rural healthcare in Utah.”
With Dr. Bracken’s departure, the RHAU Board Executive Leadership team has also been updated. Chaz Whitbeck has shifted from Board Secretary to Treasurer. Dr. Angie Fausett will now serve as secretary.
With these additions, the RHAU Board of Directors returns to full capacity with 15 active members. To learn more about RHAU’s leadership and ongoing initiatives, visit www.rhau.org/board.
