RHAU Student Scholarships
The Rural Health Association of Utah (RHAU) understands that to meet tomorrow's healthcare workforce demands across rural Utah, we must support our students from rural Utah who are pursuing healthcare careers. According to the AAMC, Medical students who grow up in small communities far from urban centers are much more likely to return to practice. RHAU believes that this is true for all healthcare professionals.
To support rural students and help build our future healthcare workforce, RHAU is pleased to offer annual scholarships to students from rural Utah who are actively pursuing healthcare careers. Scholarships are available in four categories: 1) high school seniors, 2) current undergraduate students, 3) students attending bachelor's level healthcare programs, and 4) students attending graduate-level healthcare programs.
Scholarship Tracks: There are two available tracks for applicants to select from.
-
Track 1 - General Healthcare: Physicians, Physician Assistant, Nursing (BSN or above), Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Physical/Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, etc.
-
Track 2 - Public Health and/or Prevention: Bachelor's in Public Health or Population Health, Masters in Public Health, Masters in Prevention Science, etc.

Where do the RHAU Student Scholarship funds come from?
Funds for the Annual RHAU Student Scholarships originate from the Annual RHAU Scholarship Golf Tournament held in conjunction with the Annual RHAU Conference each November in St. George, Utah. All proceeds from the tournament go directly to the RHAU Student Scholarship fund. RHAU also accepts donations that are designated specifically for student scholarships.
There are many ways to get involved with the RHAU Annual Scholarship Program:
-
Sponsor the Golf Tournament
-
Provide items for prizes/opportunities drawings at the Golf Tournament
-
Come out and play at the Golf Tournament
-
Donate directly to the RHAU Student Scholarship Fund
Funds for Track 2 scholarships were provided by the Southwest Utah Behavioral Health Center.
SBHC is the state-designated local prevention authority, with certified prevention specialists in
all five Southwest Utah counties, including prevention specialists housed in nearly 30 schools
where they provide direct services. They are experts in prevention science and community and
school mobilization.
